What is TheHackerBuild?
TheHackerBuild is a practitioner security blog for engineering leaders, delivery managers, and senior engineers who own security alongside their existing responsibilities — in GICs, GCCs, product companies, and any engineering organisation where there is no dedicated security team to hand it to.
Content covers the full spectrum of what an engineering leader actually needs to own security: building the programme from scratch, running threat hunts without a threat hunter, embedding security into every pipeline stage, and navigating the India/US dual-jurisdiction regulatory landscape that most Western security content ignores entirely.
Content pillars
All content is organised across four practitioner-focused areas:
- Blue Team Operations
- Cloud-Native Security
- Security Leadership
- AI Security
Every article is written with a practitioner lens — hands-on, technically grounded, and directly applicable to real-world engineering organisations. No vendor sponsorship. No affiliate links. No advertising.
Who writes here
Shashijeevan M. P. is VP of Delivery at Tekfriday, a fintech Global In-house Centre in Hyderabad. With over 28 years of software engineering experience spanning HP/Verifone and modern cloud-native delivery, he brings a builder's perspective to security.
His security credentials include CEH (Practical), KCSA, CKAD, and KCNA. He holds an M.Tech from IIT Kharagpur and a US Patent (No. 6,609,084) from his time at HP/Verifone. He is an active member of the Hyderabad Software Architects community.
TheHackerBuild grew out of a direct operational need: when you are responsible for delivery in a regulated engineering environment — handling customer PII, operating under Indian regulatory frameworks including RBI guidelines and the DPDP Act alongside US compliance obligations simultaneously — security is not something you can hand to another team. Whether you are in fintech, healthcare, enterprise software, or any other regulated sector, you own it alongside everything else. This site is the documentation of what that looks like in practice.
